On the occasion of Women’s Day 2016, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje presented the annual budget report. Along with that, the state government announced two government policies for the betterment of girl child in the state. These two policies are-
1. The Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana (MRY)
These two flagship projects by the Rajasthan government are expected to encourage girl child birth, educate them and assist in building women empowerment and equality in the state.
Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana (MRY)
Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana is a flagship project launched by the Chief Minister of the state. It aims to provide girls the basic right to birth as there have been many instances in the state where girl child is killed in the womb itself. Also, many families consider girl child as a burden to the family and thus, they are not willing to support the girl’s education many a times. This is why the government has launched the Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana to support and promote girls’ education and empowerment. This scheme will provide financial support to girl students in the form of grants or you can say ‘scholarships’ in schools. It is going to be pretty beneficial for girl students, especially for them who belong to poor and backward families.
